The excitement is mounting for the FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain in Cardiff, set to take place at the Principality Stadium this Saturday at 5 pm (UK time). Defending champion Dan Bewley is aiming to secure another victory, facing tough competition from fellow home heroes like Tai Woffinden, Robert Lambert, and wild card Steve Worrall. Notable contenders, including Bartosz Zmarzlik, Leon Madsen, and Maciej Janowski, are also seeking to reclaim victory in Cardiff.
Online ticket sales for the event end at midnight on Thursday. Tickets can be purchased at the Principality Stadium on Friday and Saturday, with prices starting at £20. All tickets are issued digitally, and attendees are advised not to screenshot their tickets, as this may invalidate them. It's crucial to ensure your mobile device is charged before arriving at the stadium, as public WIFI is unavailable.
The gates at the Principality Stadium open at 3:30 pm, and fans are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the opening ceremony, which features a spectacular Speedway GP laser show celebrating 100 years of racing. DJ Karl West will entertain the crowd, and the Cardiff Arms Park Male Choir will perform the national anthems before 23 exciting heats of Speedway GP action.
Attendees are advised to avoid bringing bags whenever possible, as all bags will be subject to search, potentially causing longer entry times. Only bags smaller than A4 dimensions will be allowed inside. Prohibited items include large umbrellas, professional cameras, audio or video recorders, lasers, selfie sticks, pyrotechnics, knives, tasers, mace, or glass.
Before the event, there will be a fanzone starting at 10 am in front of Cardiff's City Hall, offering various entertainment activities. Speedway champion Tai Woffinden will perform a burnout at 1:30 pm, followed by the popular Monster Energy Rig Riot at 1:45 pm, where fans can obtain Speedway GP goodies. All 18 riders competing in the FIM British Speedway GP will participate in a signing session at 2:15 pm. Special Q&A sessions, BMX performances, and stunt shows will also entertain fans throughout the day.
The fanzone will close at 3 pm, as the action shifts to the Principality Stadium. Throughout the day, there will be photo opportunities, face painting, a vintage bikes exhibition, and charity efforts by Blood Bikes Wales. Fans can also purchase Speedway GP merchandise, food, drinks, and programs.
