Posted : 17 October 2023
In an exciting development for Formula 1, the all-female junior category, the F1 Academy, is set to take on a prominent role as it features in all its rounds as support races for grands prix in the upcoming year.
The F1 Academy's season will encompass seven thrilling rounds, commencing on March 7th in Saudi Arabia and concluding with a gripping finale in Abu Dhabi on December 8th. This expanded presence will extend to the Miami, Spanish, Dutch, Singapore, and Qatar Grands Prix, adding a global dimension to the series.
Notably, in the current year, the F1 Academy serves as a support race exclusively at the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas. Looking ahead to the 2024 calendar, a blend of street circuits and traditional tracks promises to challenge and inspire the talented women drivers who are taking their initial steps in motorsport, often following successful careers in karting.
The visionary leadership of Susie Wolff, the managing director of the F1 Academy, has propelled this ambition to new heights. Her dedication to making the series a central component of grands prix events is evident in the 2024 calendar, emphasizing the global expansion of the F1 Academy and its mission to inspire young girls and women worldwide to participate in motorsport.
This initiative is further bolstered by the enthusiastic support of F1 chairman and CEO Stefano Domenicali, who envisions a global platform that not only allows the drivers to refine their skills on F1 tracks but also serves as a beacon of motivation for young girls to pursue a future in motorsport.
