Championship Battles Heat Up as F1, MotoGP Seasons Enter Final Stretch

The 2024 Formula 1 season has been exhilarating thus far, with plenty still at stake as the championship nears its conclusion. With only six races left on the calendar, the title battle has narrowed down to a contest between championship leader Max Verstappen and his closest rival, Lando Norris. The upcoming weekend will see the action resume at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, for the 19th race of the season.

 

As McLaren aims to extend their lead in the constructors' championship, they find themselves ahead of formidable competitors Red Bull and Ferrari. The Austin race weekend marks the beginning of the final six grands prix, culminating in the season finale in Abu Dhabi on December 8. Following the Austin race, the series will continue with races in Mexico and Brazil over consecutive weekends.

 

Fans can catch all the live action on SuperSport, with the weekend's schedule kicking off with Practice 1 on Friday, October 18, at 7:25 PM. This will be followed by Sprint Qualifying later that day at 11:25 PM, with the Sprint race scheduled for Saturday at 7:55 PM, and the main race set for Sunday at 8:55 PM, all airing on SS Motorsport.

 

Meanwhile, in the MotoGP series, the focus shifts to Phillip Island, where the battle for the championship title intensifies. After a crucial weekend at Motegi, the points gap between the top contenders has narrowed to just 10 points. Reigning champion Francesco Bagnaia's impressive performance has put pressure on Jorge Martin, bringing them closer together in the standings, while Enea Bastianini and Marc Marquez find themselves facing an increasingly challenging path to the title.
