Mercedes driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli has successfully passed his driving test, just six weeks ahead of his much-anticipated Formula 1 debut at the Australian Grand Prix. The 18-year-old is set to replace seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes for the upcoming season, joining George Russell as his teammate.
Antonelli, who celebrated his 18th birthday last August, is now eligible to drive on Italian roads, having met the minimum legal age. The talented driver’s achievement comes as he prepares for one of the biggest milestones in his career, stepping into F1 with the prestigious Mercedes team.
Mercedes shared the news on social media, celebrating Antonelli's accomplishments with a post that included a picture of him giving a thumbs-up while seated in a driving school car. "Mission completed," the post read, alongside checks for both his driving licence and the super-licence required to compete in Formula 1.
