The Premier League has announced that Nigerian internationals Calvin Bassey and Wilfred Ndidi are at risk of suspension. Both players are currently on four yellow cards, meaning they are just one booking away from a ban.
Bassey, a defender for Fulham, and Ndidi, a midfielder for Leicester City, are part of a group of 27 players who are nearing a suspension due to accumulating four yellow cards. If they each receive one more yellow card before their 20th match, they will face an automatic one-match suspension.

The Premier League rules state that players who collect five yellow cards in their first 19 league games will be handed a suspension. However, these yellow cards do not count towards the Carabao Cup or the FA Cup, meaning the suspensions are limited to league matches.
Both Bassey and Ndidi will need to be cautious in their upcoming fixtures, as a booking in any of their next six matches will trigger the suspension. Their disciplinary status has made them a focal point in the Premier League's fair play monitoring.
Bassey has been cautioned in matches against top teams, including Manchester United, Manchester City, Aston Villa, and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Meanwhile, Ndidi has picked up yellow cards in games against Crystal Palace, Arsenal, Bournemouth, and Chelsea.
The Leicester midfielder came close to a red card in his most recent match against Chelsea after a tough challenge on Cole Palmer, but he managed to avoid further punishment. However, this incident highlighted the risks both players face in terms of maintaining discipline.
If either player accumulates ten yellow cards within their first 32 Premier League matches, they will face a two-match suspension. Both players will need to stay disciplined in the coming weeks to avoid further complications.
