Slavia Prague has officially secured the services of 20-year-old Nigerian midfielder David Moses from Czech club MFK Karviná. The young talent has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until December 31, 2029, with the goal of following in the footsteps of his fellow Nigerian players who have thrived at the Prague-based giants.
Moses, who emerged from the Karviná academy, joined the club in March 2022 and quickly impressed with his skills. His competitive debut for Karviná came in a domestic cup match against Slavia Prague on November 18, 2022. Although Slavia won the match 2-0, with goals from Peter Olayinka and Lingr, Moses' performance caught the attention of the top Czech club.
During the 2023/24 season, Moses played in 25 league matches and was instrumental in helping Karviná maintain their place in the Czech First League. His efforts were key in securing the club's survival after a successful playoff campaign against Vyškov, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure.
This current season has seen Moses make 13 appearances, further demonstrating his talent and playing a part in Karviná's position in 11th place in the league standings. His consistent performances have earned him a move to one of the top clubs in the Czech Republic.
After signing his five-year deal with Slavia Prague, Moses expressed his excitement about the new chapter in his career. "I feel great, I’m very happy. It’s a big step for me," he said on the club’s official website, acknowledging the significance of the opportunity.
Moses also shared how his compatriots at Slavia Prague have inspired him, particularly the legendary Peter Olayinka. "I know Slavia players from Nigeria. Peter Olayinka is a legend. Ogbu is also doing well at Slavia. I also know Tijani; they are a great inspiration to me," he added.
Despite a recent loss to Teplice, Slavia Prague remains dominant in the Czech First League. They are currently top of the table with 50 points from 19 matches, seven points ahead of second-place Viktoria Plzeň and 13 points clear of defending champions Sparta Prague. With the addition of Moses, Slavia Prague looks to strengthen their position in both domestic and European competitions.
