Following a successful boxing seminar in Lagos in July, Yucateco Boxing Promotions has announced Sunday, August 11th, for the opening ceremony and Week One round of bouts of Season 2 of the Yucateco Boxing League.
The boxing outfit announced on Monday that the opening ceremony and the first set of bouts will be held at Jevinik Place, Isaac John Street, Ikeja, GRA Lagos.
According to the organizers, Season 2 of the boxing league will take place in 12 states, with 312 boxers competing in 13 different weight classes in both male and female categories.
The league, which experts have judged as the most consistent amateur boxing event on the continent, will feature twelve accredited clubs competing for the season prize money of N50 million.
The top three boxers in each weight category will receive cash rewards, with the most outstanding pugilists pocketing two million naira each.
The twelve states listed for Season 2 of the boxing league include Edo, River State, Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo, Ogun, Kwara, and Cross River. Others are Abuja, Kaduna, and Kano State.
