Granada 2-2 Barcelona: Young sensation Lamine Yamal makes history as La Liga's youngest goalscorer in Barcelona's comeback draw
Posted : 09 October 2023
In a historic La Liga match, 16-year-old Lamine Yamal became the youngest goalscorer ever in the league's history, helping Barcelona salvage a point against Granada. The game got off to an astonishing start as Granada took the lead just 17 seconds into the match when Bryan Zaragoza found the net.
Granada extended their lead to 2-0 with an impressive solo goal by Zaragoza in the 29th minute, despite Barcelona's dominance in possession. However, Barcelona's fortunes changed just before halftime when Yamal tapped in a goal from Joao Felix's pass.
It wasn't until the 85th minute that Sergi Roberto finally equalized for Barcelona, slotting in a goal from Alejandro Balde's assist. The thrilling match saw late drama as Felix thought he had scored a dramatic winner, but it was ruled out for a marginal offside against Ferran Torres.
Lamine Yamal's remarkable year continued as he added the title of La Liga's youngest goalscorer to his list of achievements in 2023. He had previously become Barcelona's youngest-ever player and the youngest player to score for the Spanish national team.
Yamal has been a regular feature in Barcelona's league games this season, starting in several matches. His rapid rise has made him the youngest player ever called up to the Spain senior squad, where he has already made appearances in international matches.
