Former Germany international Michael Rummenigge, the younger sibling of the 1982 and 1986 World Cup standout Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, has expressed admiration for the goal-scoring abilities of Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface.
The Nigerian international, with two caps to his name, made a high-profile move to Bayer Leverkusen from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise during the summer transfer window, commanding a transfer fee of approximately 20 million euros.
Boniface has enjoyed a scorching start to his career at Bayer Leverkusen, tallying fourteen goal involvements (10 goals and 4 assists) in thirteen appearances across all competitions.
At just 22 years old, he's secured consecutive Bundesliga Rookie of the Month awards and was named Player of the Month for August, propelling Bayer Leverkusen to the top of the league.
Michael Rummenigge emphasized that Bayer Leverkusen executed their transfer strategy to perfection, with their new signings making a significant impact.
"Jonas Hofmann's performance has flourished due to his talented teammates, Granit Xhaka embodies a true winner, and Victor Boniface is a top-notch goal-scorer. Additionally, there's Alejandro Grimaldo, who poses a goal-scoring threat even as a full-back," Michael Rummenigge noted in a guest article for Sportbuzzer, via Sport.
Boniface's exceptional displays in the German top-flight have earned him call-ups to represent the Super Eagles in all matches for the 2023-2024 season, and he's set to be part of the squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
