Teenager Yang Min-hyeok, set to join Tottenham from Gangwon FC in January, has received his first international call-up as South Korea prepares for next month’s World Cup qualifiers. The 18-year-old forward, who has been in impressive form with eight goals this season, was included in the squad by new head coach Hong Myung-bo.
Yang’s debut comes as South Korea embarks on the final round of World Cup qualifying, starting with a home match against Palestine on September 5 and an away game against Oman five days later. He joins a squad that also features key players like captain Son Heung-min, Bayern Munich's Kim Min-jae, and Paris Saint-Germain’s Lee Kang-in.
Hong, appointed as South Korea's coach following Jurgen Klinsmann's departure earlier this year, praised Yang’s performance this season, stating that his inclusion in the squad is well-deserved. South Korea is aiming to secure a place in their 11th consecutive World Cup, and Hong hopes Yang can contribute significantly to the team’s success.
