Xavi Bids Farewell to Barcelona with Final Win Against Sevilla

After ending his tenure as Barcelona coach with a 2-1 victory over Sevilla on Sunday, Xavi Hernández expressed that he felt his efforts had been underappreciated and warned that his successor would face a tough challenge.

 

The win, secured by goals from Robert Lewandowski and Fermín López with a reply from Youssef En-Nesyri, came just two days after the club announced that Xavi would be dismissed at the end of the season.

 

Xavi reflected on his time with Barcelona, stating that his contributions had not been fully recognized given the challenging circumstances under which he took over. When he arrived in late 2021, the team was struggling in ninth place, but he managed to guide them to a second-place finish.

 

 In his first full season, they claimed two trophies, winning LaLiga and the Spanish Supercopa. However, this year did not meet expectations, with Xavi lamenting that the outcome of several key games had been determined by small details. Despite his disappointment, Xavi acknowledged that such is the life of a coach.

 

The appointment of Hansi Flick as his successor is expected to be announced soon, according to reports. Xavi advised the incoming coach about the challenges ahead, emphasizing Barcelona's difficult financial situation and the stringent financial fair play rules.
