Leicester City suffered a defeat against West Ham, extending the battle to stay in the Women's Super League to the last day of the campaign.
The Foxes and bottom-side are separated by just two points. After Sophie Howard's own goal and Dagny Brynjarsdottir's penalty handed West Ham their first victory of the year, Reading was defeated.
In extra time, Ruby Mace of Leicester received a second yellow card.
Four minutes later, Hannah Cain scored a penalty despite the team being down to 10.
The Foxes defender, Howard, was found to have handled Risa Shimizu's cross, and Brynjarsdottir converted the resulting penalty kick for the game's winning goal.
Goalkeeper Janina Leitzig of Leicester dived appropriately, but West Ham captain Brynjarsdottir sunk a goal low to her left.
Even though Leicester controlled the first half without being rewarded, the opponent's goalie Mackenzie Arnold stopped Catherine Bott and Cain.
