Women's Olympic Football Tournament: Key Matches Set to Determine Quarterfinalists

The Women's Olympic Football Tournament is entering its final stage with ten teams competing for the remaining six quarterfinal spots. The group stage is nearing its conclusion, and the battle for the last eight is still intense.

 

In Group A, the hosts France are in a favorable position, needing only a draw against New Zealand to secure their place in the quarterfinals. New Zealand, on the other hand, must win to advance. Colombia also holds a chance to progress if they avoid a loss against Canada, who must win to make it to the next round.

 

Group B sees the USA already through to the quarterfinals, with their final group match against Australia determining whether their opponents will join them. Australia can advance by securing at least a draw. Meanwhile, Germany needs a point from their match against Zambia, who must win to have any chance of progressing.

 

In Group C, Brazil requires just a draw against the already-qualified Spain to move on. Japan also has a straightforward path to the quarterfinals, needing only a draw against Nigeria, who must win and rely on other results to favor them.
