Even though Yerry Mina snatched a thrilling equaliser at Wolves in the last seconds of stoppage time, Everton's battle to avoid the drop into the Championship will come down to the final day of the season.
 
Before Mina pounced in a goalmouth scramble in the last seconds of nine minutes of added time to give Sean Dyche's team what may turn out to be a precious point, the Toffees appeared to be headed for a humiliating defeat.
 
The true scope of Everton's assignment when they play Bournemouth at Goodison Park must now be ascertained by how other outcomes turn out.
 
After 34 minutes of a scuffle, Wolves took the lead when Hwang Hee-Chan scored off a rebound after Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford had blocked Adama Traore's attempt.
 
The two first-half headers from Dominic Calvert-Lewin gave Everton their best chances, but they were dealt a devastating blow when the injured striker was forced to leave with his most recent issue just before halftime.
