As preparations gear up for the 2023/2024 Nigeria National League (NNL), the coach of the Enugu-based amateur club, Coal City United FC, Anistar Izuikem, expressed excitement on Tuesday over the pre-season match victory against Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) second-placed Rangers International FC.
The match was part of the preparations for the 2023/2024 NNL season.
Izuikem mentioned that his players are in good shape for the upcoming NNL season.
On Tuesday, Coal City defeated the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) club, Rangers International FC, with a score of 1-0.
Williams Ogba scored the sole goal for the Coal City side in the 68th minute, which was all the club needed to defeat the more experienced Rangers players in the match played on the Rangers Training pitch at Liberty Estate, Enugu.
Rangers International FC is currently second in the ongoing NPFL standings, while Coal City is eagerly awaiting the start of the lower league in the country.
After the match, Izuikem said, "I felt great and positive with the win just before the commencement of the NNL season next weekend."
