Why Osimhen chose number 45 at Galatasaray: Explained

Victor Osimhen, a key player for the Super Eagles, has been assigned the number 45 jersey following his transfer to Galatasaray.


According to ASN, Osimhen personally chose this number, believing it holds special significance for him.


Osimhen's initial European experience with VfL Wolfsburg was challenging, as he did not score in any of his 16 appearances. This led to a loan move to Belgian club Sporting Charleroi for a season.


At Charleroi, wearing number 45, Osimhen made a notable debut on September 22, scoring his first professional goal with a backheel against Waasland-Beveren.


During his tenure at Charleroi, Osimhen scored 12 goals in 25 games, marking a crucial turning point in his career and setting the stage for his success at LOSC Lille.


ASN reveals that Osimhen specifically requested to wear number 45 at Galatasaray, viewing it as a lucky number from his time at Charleroi. He hopes it will bring him continued success in his new team.


Osimhen has arrived in Istanbul and is expected to join the Super Eagles squad soon as they prepare for their upcoming match against Benin Republic in Uyo.
