Bright Osayi-Samuel's absence from Fenerbahce’s squad during their recent goalless draw against Galatasaray has fueled further speculation regarding his future at the club. The Super Eagles fullback was left on the bench throughout the match at RAMS Park, raising questions about his role in the team.

The Nigerian defender’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, allowing him to engage in talks with other clubs as a free agent. With no extension finalized, uncertainty looms over his next move and whether he will remain with the Istanbul giants beyond the summer.

Several factors suggest that Osayi-Samuel may be better off seeking a new challenge elsewhere. His unresolved contract situation, dwindling playing time, growing interest from English clubs, and competition from rising talents all point to an impending departure.

Negotiations over a contract renewal have stalled, with reports indicating that Fenerbahce proposed an extension in early 2024. However, disagreements over financial terms have prevented both parties from reaching an agreement. Osayi-Samuel was once a trusted player under Jose Mourinho, frequently featuring in Fenerbahce’s starting XI. However, his involvement has significantly declined in 2025. A return to England has been widely speculated, with clubs like Crystal Palace reportedly monitoring his situation. Moving back to the Premier League or Championship would not only offer him fresh opportunities but also bring him closer to family and familiar surroundings. Additionally, the emergence of Oğuz Aydın has further limited Osayi-Samuel’s chances at Fenerbahce. Originally a winger, Aydın has successfully transitioned into a fullback role, earning Mourinho’s trust with his consistent performances. Having started several matches in 2025 and contributed with goals and assists, Aydın’s rise has made it increasingly difficult for Osayi-Samuel to reclaim his spot.
