Sporting Lagos FC goal poacher, Jonathan Alukwu, has promised to score more goals to improve the club’s fortune in the league.
Alukwu, a former Heartland FC player, made the pledge in an interview during the Tech Boys' training at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.
The noisy Lagos club had their training at the stadium ahead of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Match Day 18.
Their South-West derby match is against Shooting Stars FC of Ibadan on Jan. 15 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.
Alukwu, nicknamed ‘Barbie Boy,’ is undoubtedly Sporting Lagos's hitman this season alongside his strike partner, Junior Lokosa.
According to Alukwu, his form in front of goal will greatly impact on the fortunes of the club in the league campaign.
“We need more goals and everything has been put into practice during the training. We are training hard and ready for the match on Monday because it is a must-win for us.
“We won’t take any chances, so we have been putting in our best during the training to ensure that we pick up the maximum points.
“We will improve on our goal-scoring form before Shooting Stars Football Club comes here. It is a derby match, and we know it won’t be easy for both sides, but the pressure is much on us to perform.
“Our fans are expectant, and we cannot afford to let them down. On Monday, we will win big for them,” he said.
The training on Saturday was supervised by the Coach of the team, Paul Offor, and the Technical Adviser, Paul Aigbogun.
