"We will go up" - Maja

Bordeaux's Super Eagles striker, Josh Maja, is bullish about his team's chances of securing promotion to the French Ligue 1 this season. 

The club had a dismal campaign last season, which led to their relegation after picking up just 31 points from 38 games. 

However, they have bounced back strongly in the second-tier of French football, currently sitting in second place with 59 points, only six points behind Le Havre and with Metz hot on their heels with just a point less and eight games left to play.

Maja, who has been in sensational form this season, scoring 15 goals and providing five assists for Bordeaux, believes that his team has what it takes to secure promotion if they maintain their focus and continue churning out positive results. 

With the Ligue 1 reducing to 18 teams next season, only two teams will be promoted from Ligue 2 while four teams will be relegated from the top-flight, making it even more crucial for Bordeaux to secure a top-two finish this season.

Maja is committed to the cause and determined to keep banging in the goals to ensure that Bordeaux can rub shoulders with the big boys of French football next season. 

His recent brace in the 3-0 thrashing of Grenoble is a testament to his confidence and form, and he will be looking to continue in the same vein till the end of the season. 

“We only think of ourselves. We know that if we win all the matches, we will go up,” Maja said

“That’s the mentality, we don’t think about other teams. At home we know that the supporters are with us. So we have to start well, and we have to use that to our advantage.

“You have to keep the same state of mind, listen carefully to the coach, and play with confidence. 

“That’s what makes the difference for me. And if we play like today, we will do things well.”

In summary, Bordeaux needs to maintain their form and focus, and Maja's contributions will be critical in securing promotion to the Ligue 1.
