Kwara United defender, Isiah Ejeh, has stated that the motivation behind the team's victory on Match Day 15 of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) against Plateau United was to save their coach, Kabiru Dogo, from losing his job.
Ejeh mentioned that the players rallied together to secure the maximum points and ensure the safety of Kwara United's tactician.
Kwara United emerged victorious with a 2-1 scoreline at the Kwara Sports Complex.
It's worth recalling that the club's management had issued a three-match ultimatum to the former Wikki Tourists coach before the game in Ilorin.
"I want to thank God for the victory; it was crucial for us to win the game. If we hadn't won, we would have dropped to the 17th or 18th position. We are grateful to God for achieving success.
"Our coach was very upset with us because we didn't win the last match. He told us that if we didn't win, he was going to resign. So, we played for him to make him happy.
"It was very challenging because Plateau United came with a plan. After they scored their goal, they sat back, and it was difficult for us to break them down."
Kwara United is set to face Kano Pillars next in Kano next Thursday.
