We are sorry over loss in Lagos, says Kano Pillars FC mgt

Posted : 09 November 2023
The management of Kano Pillars Football Club has issued an apology to the club's supporters for the team's disappointing loss to Sporting Lagos FC on Monday.

The club's chairman, Alhaji Babangida Umar, conveyed the apology in a statement released by the club's Assistant Media Officer, Mubarak Madungurum, on Tuesday in Kano.

Umar stated that Kano Pillars felt it was necessary to apologize to the fans considering the support they have consistently provided during both home and away matches.

He recalled that Pillars suffered a 3-0 away defeat to Sporting Lagos FC at Onikan Stadium, Lagos.

Umar urged the technical staff and players of the team to always give their best for the club.

The chairman also praised the state government for its ongoing support to the club and expressed the hope that this support would continue, assuring that the club would not disappoint the government and the people of the state.

Umar encouraged all football enthusiasts in the state to turn out in large numbers on Sunday to support the club against Enyimba FC of Aba.

Kano Pillars currently have nine points from seven matches and will face their next match against Enyimba International FC in Kano.

In a related development, Kano Pillars' Technical Adviser, Abdulahi Maikaba, attributed his team's loss to Sporting Lagos to poor organization.

It should be noted that Sporting Lagos FC defeated Sai Masu Gida 3-0 in the Match Day 7 fixture at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.

With this loss, Kano Pillars have now suffered four defeats this season. Former Kano Pillars forward Junior Lokosa scored twice against his former club.

Maikaba assured that he would address his team's weaknesses in preparation for the next game.

"We had a very poor first half as my players lacked organization, leading to all three goals we conceded.

"In the second half, we attempted to improve the situation. We will make thorough preparations for the next game."

Kano Pillars will face Enyimba in a Match Day 8 fixture at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, on Sunday.
