Warri Wolves FC, Delta Queens are winners of 2023 DFA Cup

The final curtain has been drawn on the 2023 football season in Delta state with the finals of the FA Cup.
Warri Wolves FC and Delta Queens emerged the winners of the Men’s and Women’s 2023 competitions on Sunday.
In the men’s final, Warri Wolves FC defeated Osavan FC by 2-0.
The two sides opened the encounter in a hurry to undo each other, but it was Warri Wolves, who drew the first blood in the 43rd minute through lzuchukwu Christian and sealed their victory in the 54th minute, when Jabbar Malik connected perfectly from a free kick taken just at the edge of the box to slid a loose ball pass Osevan FC goalie.
The goal changed the entire complexion of the encounter and deflated the hopes of the two times finalist from Kwale.
It was Wolves' third triumph in recent times and they have qualified to represent Delta state at the 2023 national federations cup tournament.
In the female category, Delta Queens of Asaba defected Royal Queens of Warri by 3-0.
The chairman technical committee of the Delta State Football Association, Steve Cole commended the Delta state government, and the state sports commission.
He also commended the football fraternity in the state for their various continuous support towards the advancement and development of the game in the state.
The DFA vice chairman said the association had brought back the glory of the competition as the Delta FA Cup.
``The FA Cup has always been a big and important competition in the calendar of Delta sports.
``The DFA will give its representatives at the national final of the Federation Cup, Warri Wolves FC, Delta Queens and Royal Queens the technical assistance they need to excel at the competition,'' he said.
