Head Coach Bankole Olowookere has included FIFA U-17 World Cup scorers Shakirat Moshood and Harmony Chidi in the 20-player squad of Nigeria’s U-17 girls, the Flamingos, for the WAFU B U-17 Girls’ Cup, set to begin on Thursday.
The squad also features goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma, defenders Taiwo Adegoke and Ayomide Ibrahim, midfielder Faridat Abdulwahab, and forwards Peace Effiong and Mary Lucky Nkpa.

The Flamingos are in Group B of the two-week tournament, alongside the U-17 teams of Niger Republic and Côte d’Ivoire. Host nation Ghana is placed in Group A with Benin Republic, following the withdrawal of Burkina Faso. Togo had also withdrawn earlier from the competition.
Nigeria’s U-17 girls reached the quarterfinals of the recent FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic, scoring nine goals in the group stage before being eliminated by the United States of America in the Round of 8.
