The Flying Eagles drew energy from Nigeria's Independence Day celebrations to humiliate Morak FC 6-0 in a warm-up game on Wednesday morning at the FIFA Goal Project in Abuja.
The Nigeria U-20 team has been in camp preparing for the 2024 WAFU B U-20 championship in Togo.
After three weeks in camp, the Aliyu Zubairu-led side looks ready for the task ahead, as the players have developed a strong understanding of each other's strengths and are following the coach's instructions.
Morak FC, which traveled from Warri in Delta State, proved stubborn in the first half, conceding only one goal before changes in tactics and personnel allowed the Nigerian side to tear them apart.
Five unanswered goals were scored in the second half by the free-scoring 2022 WAFU B champions.
The Flying Eagles are drawn in Group B of the 2024 WAFU B U-20 championship alongside Burkina Faso and Côte d'Ivoire, while Group A consists of Ghana, Togo, Benin, and Niger Republic.
The tournament also serves as the 2025 CAF U-20 African Nations Cup.
The Nigerian side is determined to continue its dominance in West Africa, having won the last edition two years ago, which qualified them for the U-20 AFCON.
The 2024 WAFU B championship will commence on October 17th in Togo.
