Dusan Vlahovic led Juventus to a decisive 3-0 win over Verona on Monday, scoring twice and securing their second consecutive Serie A victory. This win follows their 3-0 triumph over Como, positioning Juventus as the only team with a perfect record after the initial two matches of the season, placing them at the top of the table. The team, managed by Thiago Motta, is determined to contend for their first Scudetto since the 2019-20 season, following a third-place finish last year, their highest in four seasons.
Vlahovic opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark, with Nicolo Savona, a 21-year-old defender making his debut, doubling the lead with a header from Samuel Mbangula's cross before halftime. Mbangula, recently promoted from the youth ranks, has contributed significantly with a goal and two assists in his first two matches for the senior team. Vlahovic then cemented the win with a penalty early in the second half. Reflecting on the new tactical changes under Motta, Vlahovic emphasized the importance of a strong team attitude and mentality.
In earlier Serie A action, Como earned their first point since 2003 with a 1-1 draw at Cagliari, thanks to a second-half equalizer from former AC Milan forward Patrick Cutrone. Como coach Cesc Fabregas acknowledged the challenging conditions but highlighted the need for the team to adapt quickly to Serie A's tempo. Juventus will face a significant test next Sunday when they host Roma.
