Victor Boniface joins Europe’s top-rated young stars

Victor Boniface, the Bayer Leverkusen forward, has established himself as one of the standout 23-year-olds in Europe’s top five leagues. He has kicked off the 2024/25 Bundesliga season in remarkable form, continuing from his successful run last season.


The Nigerian international has already made a significant impact, scoring four goals and providing one assist in just six league matches for the reigning German champions. His performances have been crucial in helping Leverkusen maintain their strong position early in the season.


Boniface's impressive statistics have earned him a rating of 7.34 on WhoScored, positioning him as the highest-rated 23-year-old in the Bundesliga and placing him among the top young talents in Europe. This recognition reflects his growing influence on the pitch and his ability to deliver consistent performances.


In comparison, Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka leads the ratings for young players with a score of 8.25, thanks to his two goals and seven assists in seven Premier League matches this season. Following him are Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (7.58), PSG’s Lee Kang-in (7.39), and Marseille’s Mason Greenwood (7.36).


In addition to his Bundesliga achievements, Boniface has also made his mark in the UEFA Champions League, scoring his first goal in a crucial match against AC Milan, which ended in a 1-0 victory for Bayer Leverkusen. This goal further demonstrates his ability to perform on bigger stages.


During the previous season, Boniface netted 14 league goals and contributed nine assists across 23 games, playing a pivotal role in Leverkusen’s historic Bundesliga title win. His efforts were instrumental in securing the club's first-ever league championship.


The Super Eagles striker also made significant contributions in European competitions, scoring five goals and providing an assist in eight matches as Leverkusen advanced to the Europa League final, where they were ultimately bested by Atalanta, led by Ademola Lookman.
