ValueJet Pre Season tourney: Heartland battles Sporting Lagos in Ikenne

Five-time Champions Heartland FC of Owerri will lock horns with Sporting Lagos in Ikenne today for the Value jet Cup 2023.

The pairing was revealed during the draws for the pre season tournament.

The Naze Millionaires emerged as the third team in group A which has Remo Stars, Kwara United, Heartland and Sporting Lagos.

Group B consist of Rivers United, Abia Warriors, Shooting Stars and Beyond Limits.

According to the organizers, all games will be streamed live on her YouTube Channel.

This affords fans of the participating teams the opportunity to enjoy live football action from Ikenne in real time.

Today's contest will mark the second time that Heartland will battle the newly established Franchise.

The inaugural meeting took place in Asaba on the 5th of July 2023.

Sporting Lagos player Chukwuemeka Kalu scored the first goal in the 13th Minute with a screamer that left Chisom Chiaha bemused in goal but Erikan Francis' effort fortuitously restored parity only for the ageless Chidiebere Ajoku, Aka (Uzi na Aboshi) to score the winner in the 72nd minute.

Sporting Lagos however moved on to win the inaugural DSTV Flykite Super 8 Competition in Lagos on home soil days later with former Heartland FC players such as Jonathan Alaukwu and Nwokeji Emmanuel.

Today's game promises to be kinetic and frenetic as both sides battle for supremacy in Ikenne.

The dug out contest will be equally interesting to watch as the Invincible Christian Obi comes up against the youngest gaffer Paul Offor, while Paul Offor likes to play out from the back with great intensity, Christian Obi favours a pragmatic approach.

The Pre season Competition will Commence today the 4th of August and end on the 10th of August.
