Back in December 2023, Plateau United pulled off a stunt by beating Niger Tornadoes away from home in a gritty Match Day 13 encounter that saw a five-goal thriller unfold.
Six months later, the Ikon Allah Boys have experienced a reinforced playing staff and a more organized setup, but it was not to be for the Peace Boys on Match Day 33. Despite sustained efforts that produced attempts closer to the target, there was no goal turnover, with Niger Tornadoes goalkeeper Yusuf Mohammed deserving praise for the majority of saves made.
The Peace Boys' efforts included Nenrot Silas' close-shave opening attempts, Sam Pam Juniors' cutback that only needed a tap-in, Bernard Mundi's close-shave efforts in both halves, Muhammad Umar's attempt off the woodwork, and a host of other endeavors.
The game's biggest chance arrived in the 48th minute when Nenrot Silas was tripped by Niger Tornadoes' Silvester Bell, leading to a penalty call—a chance Sunday Anthony failed to bury, resulting in a goalless draw.
Three draws, two wins on the road, and five home wins defined the main statistics of Match Day 33 across ten NPFL games.
The Peace Boys will now head to the South-South region on Match Day 34 for a match against Bayelsa United in Yenagoa.
