In the statement, the club revealed: “Kano Pillars FC can confirm that our Technical Adviser, Usman Abdallah, has stepped down from his role with immediate effect due to personal reasons." Abdallah reportedly informed the management that a significant opportunity had emerged, which he felt could not be balanced alongside his current role. After careful discussions, both parties agreed it was best for the club’s future that he step aside.
Appointed just weeks before the start of the 2024/2025 NPFL season, Abdallah led Sai Masu Gida to a respectable 9th-place finish, collecting 53 points from 38 matches—an improvement of six points from the previous season. His leadership brought a measure of stability and competitiveness to the team, despite the challenges faced during the campaign.
In an emotional audio message to fans, Abdallah expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and support he received during his tenure. “Due to something important that has come my way, I have decided to step down as Technical Adviser of this great club," he said. "Though I am stepping down, I will continue to support Kano Pillars FC from afar and offer advice whenever needed.”
He also paid tribute to the club’s loyal supporters: “What I will miss the most are the fans. Their passion, resilience, and unwavering support were the biggest reasons I accepted the role. Thank you for everything.”
Under the leadership of Chairman Ali Muhammad Umar, the club expressed its appreciation for Abdallah’s professionalism and commitment. “The management sincerely appreciates Coach Usman Abdallah for his time and dedication. We wish him all the very best in his future endeavours.” With Abdallah’s departure, Kano Pillars are expected to begin the search for a new Technical Adviser ahead of the 2025/2026 NPFL season.
