Maximilian Araujo, Darwin Nunez, and Matias Vina found the net as Uruguay secured a 3-1 victory over Panama in their Copa America Group C encounter in Florida on Sunday. This win adds to Uruguay's storied history in the tournament, having claimed the title a record 15 times.
Uruguay started with a bang, taking advantage of their rapid early tempo when Araujo scored a stunning curling shot from the edge of the area in the 16th minute. This early lead set the tone for a dominant first half by the Uruguayans.
Panama showed more aggression in the second half, creating several opportunities to equalize but failing to capitalize on their chances. It was not until the 85th minute that Nunez calmed Uruguay's nerves, executing a well-placed volley into the bottom corner to extend their lead.
In an eventful stoppage time, Vina headed in Uruguay's third goal from a set-piece, followed by Michael Amir Murillo scoring a late consolation goal for Panama. Meanwhile, in another Group C match, the United States triumphed over Bolivia with a 2-0 win.
