2023/2024 NPFL Match Day 4: Underachievers Akwa United FC seek first league win against Shooting Stars

Akwa United will seek their first win of the season when they host Shooting Stars at their new home in Eket for Matchday 4 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The Promise Keepers had decent preparations and preseason, but that has yet to translate into the league proper. Fatai Osho, the new coach, will aim for a change of fortune against the Oluyole Warriors.

Shooting Stars had to work extra hard before they could get a much-needed three points against the hard-fighting Gombe United last weekend in front of their home fans.

Shooting Stars coach Gbenga Ogunbote will still rely on team captain Taofeek Malomo to help the team with his goals and masterful performance.

Head-to-head

Akwa United FC holds the bragging rights, with seven wins in 14 matches over the Oluyole Warriors, who have five wins. There have also been two draws.

Prediction

It will be a dicey situation in Eket Stadium, given the poor form of both teams. The match may end in a draw or a win for Akwa United.
