Posted : 13 April 2023
The Flying Eagles of Nigeria, U-20 national team is set to play the Hippos of Uganda on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the ongoing CAF U-20 AFCON in Egypt.
The winners of the match will not only advance to the competition's semifinals but will also be guaranteed a berth at the 2023 U-20 World Cup, scheduled to hold in Indonesia from May 20 to June 11.
The Flying Eagles, after a difficult group stage exit in 2015, have put the World Cup spot as their main goal at the competition.
On the other hand, Uganda proceeds in the competition with high expectations after topping Group A courtesy of two draws against Congo and Sudan, winning the spot and defeating the Central African Republic.
Ladan Bosso, the Flying Eagles’ coach, stated that his team will start to focus on the trophy the moment a World Cup spot is sure. In 6 o'clock West Africa Time, both teams will trade tackles at the 22,000-seat Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Ismailia, Egypt.
