Hostilities will resume on Saturday, June 8th, 2024, at the ongoing Nwankwo Kanu U-19 Football Tourney powered by Ex-International, Ifeanyi Ekwueme.
According to reports from the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), action will resume on Saturday, June 8th, 2024, at Ngwa High School playing field on Aba-Owerri road.
Mr. Sunny Black Ogbeka, the Aba Centre Coordinator, stated that the teams will return to action to complete the group stage matches, determining those who will progress to the next stage of the talent discovery and expository competition that continues to attract rave commendations.
He mentioned that the games had to be halted due to the killings of five soldiers last Thursday, May 30th, in Aba, which significantly hampered movements in the area.
About four matches will be played between Saturday and Wednesday, with two games scheduled for Saturday, and one match each on Tuesday and Wednesday.
He praised Ifeanyi Ekwueme, the Enyimba Sporting Director, whom he described as an astute sports administrator with a penchant for creating greatness out of nothing.
He used the opportunity to urge the players to capitalize on the tournament to express their God-given talent, as the likes of Kanu Nwankwo, Ifeanyi Ekwueme, and other talented stars did during their formative years.
