U-17 Football Championship: Shooting Stars Sports Club Academy emerges champions

Shooting Stars Sports Club Academy of Ibadan has emerged champions of the 2023 Ibadan maiden U-17 tournament, defeating CC Rehoboth Football Academy 3-1 at the University College Hospital Football, UCH Pitch, Ibadan.
 
The Ibadan Soccer Lords Academy in the final match showed grit right from the first whistle against the Church outfit. The team got rewarded in the 20 minutes of play with a goal after a highly explosive encounter.
 
During the 8-team Invitational Tournament, 3SC topped the group while CC Rehoboth Football Academy showed class as they came close and emerged a finalist. The Rehoboth lads started the final with many attacking instincts and deservedly caused a lot of incursions, only for their efforts to be thwarted by the defensive discipline of the Oluyole Warriors Academy players.
 
At the hour mark, Adeyemo Ayodeji's lad doubled the lead after halftime ended 1-0 in favour of the 5-time League Champions. The intensity became so high as the Rehoboth teens fought hard in the second half.
 
The team was, however, rewarded with a penalty kick, which was converted, making the result stand at 2-1 at 68 minutes. Ibadan tried to get themselves back into the game, but the Church outfit was more resilient and repelled their attacks. With just 10 minutes left, Shooting Stars won a penalty, which was also converted, to put the scoreline at 3-1 and claim their maiden 17 Championship organised by Shooting Stars Sports Club Shooting Stars Ibrahim emerged as the MVP.
 
Earlier, Mighty Stars emerged as the third-place winner. Dignitaries present at the final are the Chairman of Shooting Stars Sports Club, the Honorable Olaniyan. David Akoro, Technical Adviser, Coach Gbenga Ogunbote, Chairman, Shooting Stars Supporters Club, Mr. Femi Oyeniyi, Oyo State FA Secretary, Mr. Kehinde Ojelowo, DSP Adejumo, Mr. Laide Bakare (Kokoro), Coach Gullit, Obadare Oladosu, and others the coordinator of the Shooting Stars Sports Academy appreciated dignitaries and football fans who turned out in large numbers to grace the epic finals.
