Adnan Beganovic is eager for TS Galaxy to maintain their strong form as they prepare for their Nedbank Cup round of 32 match against Durban City at Chatsworth Stadium on Friday, February 14. The match is set to kick off at 7pm.
Beganovic’s side is in high spirits following a surprising 1-0 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday, which ended Miguel Cardoso’s perfect domestic record at Chloorkop.
TS Galaxy have been on an impressive run, remaining unbeaten in their last 11 league matches since Beganovic took over from Sead Ramovic. Additionally, they have gone 13 games without a defeat across all competitions.
Their 7-0 thrashing of Vasco da Gama in the previous round of the Ke Yona Ya Rona on January 29 showcased their attacking prowess, and they aim to at least replicate their quarterfinal appearance from last season. The club made history in 2019 when they became the first team outside the top flight to win the Nedbank Cup, defeating Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 in the final.
Durban City, currently leading the Motsepe Foundation Championship by five points, are on track for a return to the Betway Premiership after a two-year absence. After a 1-0 loss to Casric Stars on January 17, Simo Dladla’s team bounced back with consecutive 1-0 wins over Kruger United and Venda FC.
In the Nedbank Cup, the team formerly known as Maritzburg United won 1-0 against Highbury in the preliminary round and triumphed 2-0 over Lerumo Lions in the round of 32.
