Transfer Talk: Saudi club offers £500k weekly contract for Bernardo Silva
Posted : 07 July 2023
According to sources, Bernardo Silva is being presented with a salary three times higher than his current Manchester City wages to join Saudi Pro League team Al Hilal. Silva, who currently earns around £150,000-a-week ($191,205) at Manchester City, is being enticed by a potential deal that would bring him closer to £500,000-a-week.
After spending six years at City, Silva is open to seeking a new challenge this summer. Although his preference is to remain in Europe, sources indicate that he has not ruled out the possibility of joining Ruben Neves and Kalidou Koulibaly at Al Hilal.
With two years remaining on his contract, City would demand a significant transfer fee before allowing Silva to depart. However, this is unlikely to pose a problem for Al Hilal, who are prepared to meet the financial requirements.
Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona have also shown interest in Silva, but they have not yet made an official bid to secure his services, according to sources.
While City is open to offering Silva a new contract, they are unwilling to match the salary proposed by Al Hilal.
Sources reveal that Al Hilal held another meeting with Silva's representatives last week.
Manager Pep Guardiola holds great admiration for the Portuguese international. Nevertheless, sources suggest that City will not impede his departure if an acceptable bid is received.
Additionally, sources indicate that former Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard is also being considered for a move to the Saudi Pro League. Lingard, who is currently a free agent after leaving Nottingham Forest at the end of last season, has returned from a break in the United States and is training in Manchester as he contemplates his next move. The 30-year-old made 20 appearances for Forest last season, scoring two goals.
