Transfer Talk for 10th of July: Latest signs, deals, transfer rumours
Posted : 10 July 2023
The January transfer window has broken records with a total of €1.43 billion in player transfers. The proximity to the mid-season World Cup has increased player values in a disrupted manner. Desperate teams were eager to salvage their squads, resulting in the highest spending in the history of the winter window. However, these figures are already overshadowed by the summer deals.
Last year's July-August transfer window set an all-time record of €4.3 billion, and as of now, the major leagues have already reached €1.75 billion in player moves. With plenty of time remaining, many star players still waiting for offers, and the anticipation of the famous last day of the transfer window, the chaos in the market created by Saudi Arabia's entry needs to be resolved.
Despite being two of the richest clubs in the world, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have been more focused on player departures rather than acquisitions. Chelsea, aiming to rebuild after a disappointing season, sold several players to their league rivals.
Meanwhile, PSG aims to provide coach Luis Enrique with a squad capable of achieving success in Europe, with Enrique himself being their biggest signing of the summer.
Other notable transfer activities include Liverpool refreshing their midfield, Real Madrid making strategic moves, Bayern Munich strengthening their team with free transfers, and the growing influence of Saudi Arabian clubs in attracting players at the peak of their careers.
There are still many ongoing developments and negotiations involving major players such as Kylian Mbappe, Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku, and Declan Rice, indicating that the transfer market is far from settled.
