Transfer expert Ben Jacobs has highlighted the current advantage between Manchester United and Chelsea in the race to sign Crystal Palace forward Michael Olise, who was invited to join the Super Eagles in 2021.
Both Premier League giants are strongly linked with Olise this summer, with Chelsea reportedly agreeing on personal terms with the France U21 international. However, Manchester United remains confident in securing his signature despite Chelsea's progress.
Amidst speculation about the future of Manchester United's manager Erik ten Hag, the club has clarified that he will stay in charge next season, reaffirming their commitment to summer recruitment, including the pursuit of Olise.
Jacobs emphasized that Chelsea currently holds the upper hand in signing the French-Nigerian forward, suggesting that Chelsea might be more proactive in their approach. He noted that Chelsea's priority for a right-sided winger aligns closely with their transfer plans, whereas Manchester United's focus includes other positions like striker, left-sided central midfielder, young left-back, and center-back.
According to Jacobs, Manchester United's pursuit of a right-sided winger may not be as high on their priority list compared to other positional needs they are targeting.
Chelsea, meanwhile, is reportedly keen on bolstering their squad with a winger and center-forward this summer, with Olise identified as their primary target for the winger position. The club has already secured the signing of Nigerian defender Tosin Adarabioyo and sees Olise as another potential addition to strengthen their attacking options.
In the previous Premier League season, Olise demonstrated his ability with double figures in goal involvements, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists, further enhancing his appeal to potential suitors like Chelsea and Manchester United.
