Tottenham secure 2-0 victory over Bournemouth, James Maddison scoring his first goal

Ange Postecoglou's successful start as Tottenham manager continued as they secured a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. James Maddison, who was a £40 million summer signing from Leicester, scored his debut goal for the team, opening the scoring in the first half. Dejan Kulusevski added another goal to seal the win, allowing Tottenham to accumulate seven points from their first three matches of the season.
In the Premier League clash against winless Bournemouth, James Maddison's first goal for Tottenham propelled Ange Postecoglou's side to the top of the table, leading ahead of the weekend's remaining fixtures. Despite concerns about his condition after the previous match against Manchester United, where he left on crutches, Maddison displayed no hindrance as he found the net for his new club in the 17th minute.
The goal resulted from an elegant sequence involving Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr, culminating in Maddison's clever run and well-placed finish. Maddison then turned into an assist provider, setting up Richarlison, who maneuvered past Neto but had his close-range shot thwarted on the goal line.
Bournemouth mounted a significant improvement after halftime, with Antoine Semenyo posing a threat, but Tottenham surprised them with a second goal in the 63rd minute. Dejan Kulusevski capitalized on Destiny Udogie's impressive run and precise cross to secure the victory.
As a result, Tottenham ascended to the top of the Premier League standings with two wins out of three matches. However, their closest competitors are yet to play their weekend fixtures. On the other hand, Bournemouth sits in 15th place with one point and could potentially drop further down the table based on upcoming results.
In their upcoming engagements, Tottenham is scheduled to face Fulham in an all-Premier League EFL Cup clash on Tuesday night, while Bournemouth will travel to take on Swansea City.
