Tottenham in discussions for Nigerian talent as Harry Kane replacement
Posted : 17 August 2023
Tottenham Hotspur are in discussions with Gent to sign Nigerian talent Gift Orban as a potential replacement for Harry Kane, who recently departed for Bayern Munich.
Despite keen interest in the striker, talks are facing early controversy due to disagreements over the transfer fee, with Tottenham reluctant to exceed £30 million, the amount Gent is requesting for the 21-year-old.
While Tottenham has yet to submit an offer, negotiations are ongoing, and they are expected to make their initial bid to Gent soon.
Orban, a Nigeria international, has showcased impressive form by scoring 25 goals in 26 appearances for Gent since joining from Stabeak in January.
The Belgian club's asking price for Orban exceeds Tottenham's budget, given their recent sale of Kane for £100 million to Bayern Munich.
If both sides ultimately agree on £30 million, Gent would substantially profit from the deal, having acquired Orban for just £3.3 million from Norwegian club Stabeak a mere 7 months ago.
