Tottenham Hotspur planning January move for Nigerian center-back
Posted : 08 November 2023
Nigerian defender Tosin Adarabioyo has once again been linked with Tottenham Hotspur.
According to Football Insider, the North London club is eyeing Fulham's center-back as a solution to compensate for the absence of their key player Micky van de Ven, who has featured in every match for Tottenham Hotspur during the 2023-2024 season.
Tottenham's options in central defense have dwindled following van de Ven's injury in their recent match against Chelsea, prompting their interest in acquiring a new center-back during the January transfer window.
Ange Postecoglou's team has had a promising start to the season, with only one Premier League loss, and they are eager to avoid injuries affecting their ambitions. They have compiled a shortlist of center-back targets, which includes Adarabioyo, Edmond Tapsoba from Bayer Leverkusen, and Lloyd Kelly from Bournemouth.
Adarabioyo, a product of the Manchester City Academy, is nearing the end of his contract with Fulham, but he is contemplating an extension with the club, which could potentially hinder Tottenham's hopes of signing him. He has yet to make a Premier League start this season for Fulham due to a groin injury.
