Tottenham Hotspur had a muddled 29 days until Stellini's departure

Posted : 27 April 2023
Since Mauricio Pochettino left three and a half years ago, Spurs had gained a reputation for some organized chaos, but after returning to the Champions League this season and spending well over £100 million on new additions this summer, they appeared to be finally back on the right track.

After a barnstorming North London derby victory to destroy Arsenal and all but guarantee a top-four finish last May, Spurs fans were daydreaming of what was to follow.

On Sunday against Newcastle, those fantasies turned into nightmares in the opening 20 minutes, eleven months later.

Daniel Levy, who was forced to eliminate the remnants of the Antonio Conte period, has now organized Cristian Stellini's belated departure.

Conte's resignation will have an even longer-lasting effect. Naturally, not every player from that nine-figure investment from last summer will work for his successor. By the end, a lot didn't fit him.

With those additions and the already-established position of Fabio Paratici, who was himself forced to leave the club earlier this month due to his 30-month global football suspension imposed by FIFA in March, Levy sought to reshape the club in the Italian's image. It will need time to be chiseled into something new.

Spurs released further information on its planned Fan Advisory Board just hours after announcing Stellini's departure, but given the negative sentiment now surrounding the team, the timing of the announcement seems disingenuous.
