Tottenham has finalized an agreement to extend Timo Werner's loan from RB Leipzig until the culmination of the forthcoming season. Since joining Spurs on loan in January, the German forward has featured in 14 matches across various competitions, finding the net twice. Initially, Tottenham had the option to secure Werner's permanent transfer for £15 million this summer. However, the revised deal now includes a reduced £8.5 million option to purchase.
Werner's presence provided valuable depth to the Tottenham squad last season, offering manager Ange Postecoglou additional attacking options. However, a hamstring injury sidelined him for the final five Premier League fixtures of the campaign. Despite this setback, Tottenham managed to secure a fifth-place finish, ensuring their participation in the Europa League for the upcoming season.
With an impressive international record of 24 goals from 57 appearances for Germany, Werner brings considerable experience to the Tottenham frontline. Although his last appearance for the national team dates back to March 2023, his prolific stint at Chelsea, where he netted 23 goals in 89 appearances and clinched several prestigious titles, further underscores his value to the Spurs squad.
