Tottenham and Sevilla interested in Super Eagles' Wilfred Ndidi

Posted : 07 November 2023
Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Onyinye Ndidi is gaining the attention of both Tottenham Hotspur and Sevilla as his contract with Leicester City approaches its expiration in the summer of 2024. After arriving from Belgian club Genk in the winter transfer window of 2017, Ndidi became a mainstay for Leicester, amassing over 250 appearances for the club. This season, he's experienced a rejuvenation in his performance, excelling in a new midfield role under the management of Enzo Maresca, particularly in the Sky Bet Championship, where the team now competes after relegation.

As Ndidi's contract will soon be up for renewal, he is allowed to engage in discussions with other clubs beginning in the coming year. Reports from the Daily Express suggest that Tottenham Hotspur is keen on acquiring the services of the Super Eagles player, with the move possibly reuniting Ndidi with his former teammate James Maddison. This is not the first time Ndidi has piqued the interest of prominent English clubs, as Liverpool and Manchester United were linked with him in the past, especially after Leicester City faced relegation from the Premier League, indicating a need for midfield reinforcements.

On another front, Sevilla, the seven-time UEFA Europa League champions, have also expressed their interest in the 1.83-meter-tall midfielder. Víctor Orta, Sevilla's sports director, has been closely monitoring Ndidi's contract situation, with potential plans for a move to the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium in June 2024.

Throughout the current season, Ndidi has made a significant impact with three goals and four assists in fifteen appearances. The majority of these matches took place in the league, with twelve outings, while the remaining three occurred in the Carabao Cup. His consistent and impactful performances make him a valuable target for both Tottenham Hotspur and Sevilla as they consider bolstering their squads in the upcoming transfer windows.
