Tosin and Tyrique George react to Chelsea's historic 8-0 win

Posted : 08 November 2024

Tosin Adarabioyo and Tyrique George shared their reactions after Chelsea's remarkable 8-0 victory over Noah in the UEFA Europa Conference League on Thursday at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues' overwhelming win against the Armenian side set a new record as the biggest margin of victory in the competition's history. For both Adarabioyo and George, it was also a memorable occasion for personal reasons.

Adarabioyo opened the scoring in the 12th minute, heading home from an Enzo Fernández corner to mark his first goal for Chelsea. The 27-year-old joined the club on a free transfer in the summer after his contract with Fulham ended.

This game marked just his seventh start for Chelsea, as manager Enzo Maresca has usually preferred a pairing of Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana at the heart of the defense. Despite limited opportunities, Adarabioyo was pleased with his contribution.

Reflecting on his goal, Tosin shared his excitement with Chelsea's YouTube channel: "Amazing, a goal, huge win, and a clean sheet, very good win. I’ve been trying to score for a while, and getting my first goal for Chelsea means a lot."

It was also a special moment for 18-year-old Tyrique George, who made his first start for the club, a clear sign of the trust Maresca has in the young forward. George had previously made his debut in Chelsea's second-leg qualification tie against Servette, coming on as a substitute.

Though he didn't score or assist on his debut start, George was thrilled by the opportunity to play for Chelsea, the club he’s supported since childhood. "It was great to start for Chelsea, my boyhood club. Enzo told me a few hours before the match, and I was just excited to make a good impression," George said, adding that the excitement helped him overcome any nerves.

It will be interesting to see how much more involvement George has with Chelsea's first team as the season progresses.
