Tino Anjorin trains individually after missing nine games consecutively

Posted : 18 April 2025

Faustino Anjorin, the former Chelsea midfielder, remains uncertain for Empoli's upcoming Serie A match against Venezia on Sunday as he continues his recovery from a thigh injury.

Anjorin, who made the move to Empoli last summer, has been one of the standout performers in what has otherwise been a challenging season for the club.

The 23-year-old has made 17 league appearances, contributing three assists, and showcasing his versatility in midfield. His ability to adapt and make an impact has been one of the few positives for Empoli.

However, a thigh injury has sidelined Anjorin since February, keeping him out of action for the last nine consecutive matches. His absence has coincided with a poor run of form for Empoli, as they have yet to win a match during this period, losing six and drawing three against teams like Cagliari, Como, and Genoa.

As reported by Italian outlet fantamaster.it, Anjorin remains a doubt for the crucial clash against Venezia, having only recently resumed light individual training.

Despite having represented England at youth levels, Anjorin is still eligible to play for Nigeria at senior level, as he has not yet earned a cap for the Three Lions.

Anjorin will be eager to make a full recovery and return to the pitch, hoping to impress Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle and potentially secure a spot in the squad for the Unity Cup and the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Meanwhile, Empoli will be hoping for his swift return as they aim to salvage their season in the final stretch.
