Ten Hag criticizes Man United's awful lack of effort in their defeat by Sevilla

At the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium on Thursday, United were defeated 3-0, ending their chances of winning three cups in Ten Hag's debut season as manager.
David de Gea and Harry Maguire made horrendous errors that contributed to the outcome, but the enraged Dutchman afterwards labeled the entire performance as "unacceptable."
"I have to acknowledge [the lack of fight] it's the truth, it's hard, it's tough, it's the truth and it can't be -- it's unacceptable," Ten Hag told a news conference.
"We showed in the past we can quickly bounce back, we have done it many times this season but we have to start games better, more desire, more composure on the ball. When you get the setback you have to deal with it and carry on.
"Tonight we were not good enough. It was obvious, it was clear. We did not match the standards you can expect from a Manchester United team."
Maguire was trapped on the ball after only eight minutes, while De Gea failed to handle a basic long ball forward, both of which cost them the game.
Although Loic Bade's header, which went in shortly after halftime, may have been handled better by De Gea, Ten Hag supported his goalkeeper in the aftermath.
"He's the one with the most clean sheets in the Premier League, that shows he's a very capable goalkeeper," he said.
As they go ready for Sunday's FA Cup semifinal against Brighton at Wembley, United must rapidly recover from their setback in Spain.
In the battle for the top four, Ten Hag's club will also play Tottenham on Thursday.
