Talented Golden Eaglets midfielder scouted by Barcelona and Villarreal arrives in France

Nigeria's U17 talent Usman Ajibola has arrived in France for trials with Lille in the French Ligue 1. 

The midfielder gained attention from European scouts during the 2023 Africa U17 Cup of Nations, impressing in all games played for the Golden Eaglets.

Out of the clubs vying for Ajibola's services, Lille stands out as the frontrunner, inviting him for a two-week trial, with a contract decision anticipated upon his coming of age. 

While Spanish giants Barcelona, Villarreal, OGC Nice, and FC Nordsjælland also scouted him during the tournament, Ajibola is eager to begin his European journey with Lille.

Ajibola's skills have made him a standout prospect, and even though Barcelona initially considered his teammate Ifeoluwa Adewale Olowoporoku, they shifted their focus to him. 

Amid interest from Belgian, Danish, and Swedish clubs, Ajibola aims to launch his European career with Lille, known for his clean touches and effective ball-winning ability.
