Nottingham Forest striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, has extended a heartfelt goodwill message to the Super Falcons as they gear up for the 2023 World Cup.
The team, under the guidance of Coach Randy Waldrum, is aiming for glory in Australia/New Zealand during the Mundial.
Despite their impressive track record on the continent, having secured nine Women's Africa Cup of Nations titles, Nigeria's performance in previous World Cup editions has seen them fail to progress beyond the quarterfinals.
The team's best finish dates back to 1999 when they reached the quarterfinal stage, but since then, they have struggled to advance beyond the round of 16.
However, they are determined to make a mark and improve their performance in the upcoming tournament.
Kicking off their campaign on the 21st of July against Canada, the Super Falcons have already received words of encouragement from Taiwo Awoniyi, who conveyed his best wishes to the team.
Speaking to Eagles tracker, Awoniyi expressed his belief in the team's abilities and sent them a message of support: "I wish the Super Falcons all the very best in the World. I believe you can do it, and you're going to make everyone in the country proud. Go girls!"
As the journey continues, Nigeria will also face Australia on the 27th of July in their second group stage match, followed by a clash against the Republic of Ireland in their last group stage game.
With Awoniyi's uplifting message and the nation's unwavering support, the Super Falcons are poised to take on the world stage and strive for a historic achievement in the 2023 World Cup.
