Taiwo Awoniyi transfer: Nottingham Forest sparks exit talk with signings

Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi may be on his way out of Nottingham Forest during the summer transfer window, as the club is reportedly interested in signing Bournemouth’s striker, Evanilson.


This season has been challenging for Awoniyi at Forest, as he has struggled with consistent injuries. The 27-year-old, who was once a key figure in the team’s attack, has seen his position as a first-choice striker overtaken by Chris Wood. Wood’s impressive performances have earned him a regular spot in the starting lineup, while Awoniyi’s injuries have hindered his ability to regain his place.


Nottingham Forest currently occupies third place in the Premier League, and they are on track to secure a spot in the Champions League if they finish the season strong. As a result, the club is looking to strengthen its squad to manage the demands of competing in European football. Reports from TBR Football suggest that Forest is eyeing Evanilson, who joined Bournemouth from Porto last summer. The Brazilian has made an impact, scoring nine goals and providing four assists in 24 Premier League appearances.


Should Forest successfully complete the transfer of Evanilson this summer, it could signal the end of Awoniyi’s time at the club. While the Super Eagles forward has been previously linked with a move to West Ham, no formal offer has materialized, leaving his future uncertain. 


However, Awoniyi’s recurring injury troubles have made him a less attractive prospect for potential suitors. He is currently sidelined with a calf injury and may not feature again this season, further diminishing his chances of securing a move to another Premier League club.


If Awoniyi is unable to recover and regain regular playing time, he may find it difficult to attract offers from top-flight clubs. His options could be limited, and he might be forced to move to a smaller club or remain at Nottingham Forest, where he would likely remain as a third-choice striker.


Despite these challenges, Awoniyi still has two years remaining on his contract at Nottingham Forest. His future remains in limbo, with his next move largely dependent on his ability to overcome his injury issues and reclaim his spot in the team.
